I am an almost 50 year old mom to three active girls under the age of 9! I am blessed to be the wife of the most understanding man who supports me in all ways. Most of all - I am a Jesus lover and follower of God.
My motivation to participate with Team LWB this year
Last year, I stepped out and completed the full marathon. When I did that, I committed to running the 2012 marathon - not knowing that the Lord would lead us to yet another child from China before the end of 2011. On December 23rd, Carmela AiLiu joined our family from Maoming China. She is 9 years old and a burn survivor. It is likely that she was abandoned by her parents when she was a toddler because they were unable to pay for adequate medical care in China. This year, I am participating in a 2 person relay for the marathon. I am running to raise money for Love WIthout Boundaries Unity Fund - a fund used to help parents in China get the medical surgeries they need for their children - sometimes the only thing that separates that child from life or death...or being abandoned. Part of caring for the orphan is helping to keep families intact - a goal of LWB and part of the long term solutions for children. We are blessed by the addition of Cami into our family this year - and can not imagine our life without Cami. Out of the tragedy of her circumstances God raised beauty from ashes. I am running so that perhaps one day the tragedy may not happen.
