Welcome to my website
I have many places to call home, but I think my heart will always be in Kentucky. I'm currently living in southern Florida, but that always has potential to change with only a moment's notice. I love music, China, family, and our Lord and Savior who gave me all that and more. I was not a runner before I started training for this race, and I'm learning to love the thrill of being on the open road with endless possibilities. I ran my first ever race on Thanksgiving Day 2011- a 5k- and I'm hooked! I am very excited about running this marathon and even more excited about the opportunities it is providing to share about how others can help these children.
My motivation to participate with Team LWB this year
China is a country that is close to my heart. My youngest sister and my three brothers were adopted from there, and Love Without Boundaries sponsored and performed my youngest brother's cleft lip surgery before we adopted him and brought him home. I am always looking for ways to be a help in the lives of Chinese orphans, and this unfortunately doesn't mean I can take unlimited trips to that side of the world. Running this race to raise money for LWB is another way to benefit the lives of children in China, monetarily and also to raise awareness about this organization and hopefully share this part of my heart with others to stir theirs. The donations I raise for this event are going to sponsor sweet little Heath's multiple surgeries.
Fund-Raising
Goal: $750.00
To date: $110.00
I'm participating on behalf of Heath. Heath is a baby from a rural orphanage in Guizhou who was found to have both a heart defect and cleft lip. Surgeons decided to repair his cleft lip first, and then Heath underwent heart surgery in Shanghai. He is now recovering in our healing home in Fujian province, and we are hopeful that following his full recovery, he will be chosen for adoption.
