My motivation to participate with Team LWB this year
My husband will be running the full marathon, and my daughter and one of my nephews will run the kids marathon. My oldest nephew and I wanted to take part in the running and in raising money for LWB, so we decided to become the 10K team.

I'm participating on behalf of Kirk. Kirk was born in Wuwei, Gansu Province and came to Heartbridge when he was nine months old. Kirk was born with a very complicated heart defect and had surgery in July of 2008. Kirk had a lot of catching-up to do, but he has made slow, steady progress. At 20 months of age he has just recently taken his first unassisted steps! He has also developed an appetite. Where he used to take forever to eat, he now finishes his ceral right away and then looks mournfully at the nanny of any child who hasn't yet cleaned their bowl. He has perfected his "puppy-dog look" and frequently gets an extra spoonful or two while his nanny is still out of the room cleaning up. Smart boy!
