Shawn Conard
Welcome to my website
My name is Shawn and I am known as "Daddy" to 4 great kids; 2 born to us and 2 born in our hearts and adopted from China. Our youngest child, Nate, came home earlier this year. Nate was born cleft affected and was very small when he was found, 2.2kg. Two months later, Nate had gained only 1 tenth of a Kg (2.3kg, barely 5 pounds.) He was moved to a special section of his orphanage where he could get more specialized care and begin to grow and thrive. This is similar to the care that the LWB Healing Homes offer children who don't have the option our son had within his orphanage. We are so thankful for the care he was able to get in the special section because without it, we wonder if he would have lived long enough to become our son. I have been married to my wife, Gayly for almost 14 years and we are thankful for the blessing of our kids; Lenna, Abigayl, Eli & Nate.
My motivation to participate with Team LWB this year
This will be my 2nd year running the Marine Corp Marathon and my 2nd marathon ever. It is an amazing event and experience to run in our nation's capital and with the support you get as a runner in this race. The experience is only made better by being part of a great team that is running for an cause like Love Without Boundaries and the children of the Healing Homes. It's an honor to support and organization that is truly serving the least of these who need it so much.
Fund-Raising
Goal: $3500.00
To date: $3155.00
I'm participating on behalf of Landri. Landri came to the Anhui Cleft Healing Home from Fujian province in March 2009 because her SWI was having a difficult time feeding her. She was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate and at 7 months of age, Landri weighted a mere 9 pounds. She is described as being very clever, thoughtful and inquisitive, with eyes full of curiosity. Landri enjoys listening to music and can often be heard humming in her crib. Landri is quickly catching up in weight and physical development and will soon be able to receive her life changing cleft lip surgery.
