Jessica Bradway

Welcome to my website

I graduated in May from the University of Kentucky with a B.A. in Art History and a minor in Art Studio. I'm going to begin the wonderful process of applying to grad school in the next month, and my goal is to pursue a Master's Degree in Art Therapy. In the meantime, I have moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I shall continue to work for Starbucks and search for new experiences and adventures. I started my journey in martial arts at the age of five with high hopes of becoming the next pink Power Ranger. I've only been running for a few years, but it's become a passion. This will be my second marathon. I'm very excited about running this marathon with LWB. I would like to thank Bob and Ellie for talking me into it. I look forward to sharing the experience with my cousins Rob and Drew.

My motivation to participate with Team LWB this year

For three years I volunteered at the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital. The group I worked with was called "Kreative Catz." I was able to teach children how to paint and draw, and spend time with them by having fun through artistic expression. I am thankful for the time I got to spend with those children. Many of those children had gone through more than I could even imagine, yet they were some of the happiest and strongest people I have ever encountered. They motivate me daily to be positive and push myself. The foal in my photo is a project I was fortunate to be able to do with the children and "Kreative Catz." The designs came from drawings the children created, and we projected the images onto the horse and painted it. The horse is now on display in Lexington for the 2010 Equestrian Games. Kudos to the kids!!!! I would also like to thank my family and friends for their love and support. They strengthen me beyond words.

I'm participating on behalf of Beto. Beto was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate in April 2010. He arrived at LWB’s Henan Cleft Healing Home in May. The first week he was there, he gained .25 kg; a big jump for such a little guy. He is a little fussy and demands a lot of attention. The good news is that he will get the attention he needs in this special home. Before long he will be healthy enough to receive life changing cleft lip surgery and hopefully be on his way to his very own family.
